Shah cites Mathura violence, targets Akhilesh on ‘lawless’ UP | Latest Political News
The Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh is creating roadblocks for execution of several welfare schemes initiated by the Centre, the reason why benefits are not reaching the intended beneficiaries in the state, BJP president Amit Shah said at a media briefing in Lucknow on Tuesday. “Modi government has launched a number of new schemes every 15 days, including free LPG connection for BPL families and Kisan Fasal Bima Yojana, in the last two years, but the state government is creating roadblocks in its delivery,” Shah said.
Accusing the ruling Samajwadi Party of shielding the corrupt and the goons, Shah asked why the Akhilesh Yadav government was not acting against those it had itself accused of corruption and scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore during the earlier Bahujan Samaj Party rule. “They came to power on the plank of ending corruption allegedly prevalent during the BSP government. Why have they not acted against any corrupt in the last four years and sent them to jail?” the BJP president said.
On the controversial Ram temple issue, Shah said, “There should be abuilt in but either after a consensus or through court decision.” Targeting the Uttar Pradesh government for what he said was the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the state in the wake of the Mathura violence, Shah wondered aloud how could goons shoot at police officers with impunity. “BJP will launch agitation against encroachment of land belonging to government and poor,” Shah said.
